About Us

Hicks & Hart was founded by Catherine Hicks and Kate Hart who met while training to become garden designers at the prestigious Inchbald School of Design. They became great friends, graduated with distinction and decided to start their design business having enjoyed highly successful careers across the hotel, leisure and retail sectors.

Lush City Garden

Tucked into a compact Notting Hill courtyard, Hicks & Hart studio garden is a private green escape – a lush, textural space for working, entertaining and unwinding in the heart of the city.

Riverside Garden

This half-acre garden in North Norfolk features wildlife-friendly planting, inspired by the expansive views across the river and surrounding farmland – a tranquil space to relax and unwind.

Hotel Formal Gardens

The Masterplan

Hicks & Hart have designed a new wedding garden for Down Hall Hotel & Spa. The 3D render of our masterplan design shows the ambition and scale of the project which will be completed in time for the Spring/Summer wedding season this year.

Construction is Underway

The garden includes a 180 seat Ceremony Lawn, a Lounge Terrace and a Drinks Terrace. In addition to weddings it will also play host to corporate events. Clearing of the spaces to create these ‘outdoor rooms’ began in January 2026. Here we see the aisle and Lawn Terrace taking shape and the view back to the hotel.

Tree Planting Time

The garden will include almost 50 new trees, providing structure, drama and of course shade. In addition to these Parasol Liquidambar styraciflua which will provide stunning Autumn colour on the Lounge Terrace, the garden includes new parasol Platanus x acerifolia on the Drinks Terrace and Crataegus prunifolia lining a curved path, among others.
